Several years ago, the Qube3 was a great server, providing an easy
interface for system administrators. HiTechSavvy built the
Savvy Server as a direct replacement for the Qube3 so migration is
easy. Nothing is missing.
We included email, web, file, printing, LDAP, firewall and updating

The Savvy Server and Web Sites
The Savvy Server offers a simple means of hosting web sited on your
server. It doesn't matter if this is an internal site for your team only,
or a web site for the public, the Savvy Server can handle both easily.
The Savvy Server used named-based virtual hosting so you can host
multiple website on the same server. You can assign these web sites to
different teams so that they have the ability to post and interact with the
site. This means you can have multiple webmaster is you need them or
delegate that responsibility to a single person. It's your choice.
Have HiTechSavvy Build You a Site
We are not slouches when it comes to websites. In fact,
we have a sister company that specialize in interactive
community oriented web sites.
For $500 we can build you a template site that is both
attractive and easy to flesh out. We use the
Mambo Server
which has a simple HTML editor that makes entering content
easy. Additional, Mambo formats your content into the
website in an organized way. If you don't want to hassle
with a web developer and have someone sharp your team
already we should discuss using the Mambo to simplify
things. Mambo is ideal if you have a marketing person
on your team who doesn't understand HTML, but knows what
they want the message to be. Mambo is one of the most
exciting Open Source projects out there today.

AWStats is a free powerful and featureful tool that generates
advanced web server statistics, and shows you all the information
your log files contain, in few easy to read web pages. AWStats
allows you to see what web pages people are interested in, where
they are coming from and what browsers they are using.

FTP Access (or SSH/SCP)
Control Who Can Configure Your Sites
Configure your server so that only a local (LAN)
user can configure your website or give the control
to someone on the Internet. In both cases it still
requires a password.
For those who prefer to use Secure Copy (SCP)
this is also available. I lot of users are switching
over because of the added security benefits, but we
still keep FTP available because surprising some
professional web developers cannot use SCP.

The Savvy Server runs secure/patched versions of:
- Linux 2.4.x
- Apache Version 1.3.x
- MySQL Version 3.23.58
- PHP Version 4.3.9
This give you all the basics you need to have
a powerful, flexible web server. We have tried to
stay away from the bleeding edge of technology
as a part of our security philosopy and common
sense. Consquently, the Savvy Server provides a
reliable web platform. However, should you need
newer software for any reason, do not hesitate to
inquire. We can generally load anything you want
if the business need is there.

Dynamic Content Systems
PHP, CGI and SSI (Server Side Includes) are available
on the Savvy Server along with an On/Off switch in the
GUI. We do this not because these technologies are
inherently insecure, but because sometimes people load
insecure software that utilize these technologies. As
an administrator fixing the root cause may be difficult
so all you have to do is stop the PHP/CGI/SSI systems
and the problem is solved. Of course, you should talk
with your consultant to deal with the faulty software
but this is a simple way to resolve the issue quickly.
