You may or may not have noticed the April Fools joke Sun played on RaQ and Qube owners. I did, coming into work on Monday I found the forums located at http://cobalt-forum.sun.com/forum/ missing.... gone... There is a forward to the remaining Sun products, but the Sun/Cobalt products are no longer available.

As you undoubtedly know, Sun Microsystems has announced their intention to discontinue support for the Sun/Cobalt line of products. This leaves many happy Cobalt user looking for an alternative. HiTechSavvy has endorsed the Net Integrator line of servers as the ideal replacement and has become a reseller. "We chose the Net Integrator after many months evaluating the all offerings," says Jay Farschman, "It offers the best feature set and an unparalleled disaster recovery system that is both easy to use and light years ahead of the competition."

Note: HiTechSavvy did choose the Net Integrator early in 2004, but Net Integrator changed the way they sell their product and the support turned out to be sub standard.

As most of you know I put a good deal of effort into collecting information about Linux and in particular the Sun/Cobalt products. You probably also know that I am committed to sharing what I've learned.

To that end I've started a monthly newsletter, which is basically a digest of what I've written over the past month. Feel free to supscribe or unsubscribe as you like. the process is pretty simple. Also, feel free to submit articles and links of your own. Hoipefully this site can become a place where we share what we've learned.

HiTechSavvy is now teaching the Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) certification from TIA. This certification, taught in conjunction with Colorado Community College provides students with the skills they need to further their careers in the rapidly converging fields of voice and data communications.

CTP is a required course for all Inter-Tel advanced training and Mitel's advanced VoIP training. Cisco endorses the CTP as a 'stepping tone' to the Cisco IP Telephony certification. Avaya considers the CTP the equivalent to it's long standing Avaya Certified Associates (ACA) core exam.

As we enter the age of converged technologies companies are looking for trained, professional, certified people with a strong understanding of how data and voice can coexist in the enterprise network. Telephony professionals need to understand IT, and IT professionals need to understand telephony. The CTP certifications does a great job taking a Telephony or TI professional and giving them the skills to become a converged professional.
